Leander "Lee" Francis Tramp

April 7, 1935 — December 1, 2022

Leander Francis “Lee” Tramp, 87, of Dakota City, NE, passed away December 1, 2022 at a local hospital.  A funeral mass will be held Monday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. at St Michaels Catholic Church in South Sioux City, NE.  Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7:00 p.m. with a rosary and sharing at 5:00 p.m. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Burial will be at St. Michaels Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Leander was born on April 7, 1935 near Crofton, NE to George and Helen E. Tramp.  The family moved to South Sioux City and later to Hastings, NE where his father worked in the munitions plant during WWII.  They returned to South Sioux City and Lee graduated from South Sioux City High School and began his carpentry profession.  He served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Whittier, Alaska.  After his service, he and his brother LeRoy formed the Modern Home Improvement Company, specializing in roofing and siding for nearly 45 years.

On April 22, 1961 he married Geraldine “Gerry” Bleich at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, NE.  The couple lived briefly in South Sioux then, moved to Dakota City.  He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he served on the building and grounds committee.  He was a charter member of the Perpetual Adoration, spending a weekly night hour of prayer for over 50 years.  He loved to work in his shop on various projects and creations.  Other hobbies included fishing, gardening, and tending to his fruit trees.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Gerry Tramp; sons: Dale (Traci) Trampe, Sioux City, IA and Ned Tramp, Omaha, NE; brother, LeRoy Tramp, Dakota City, NE; granddaughters, Jordan Kaye and Jenna Rae.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gladys Rogge.
