LaVonne Corrine Hasek

LaVonne C. Hasek, 95 of Sioux City passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 15, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Chaplain Kathy Martin will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com LaVonne was born September 11, 1926 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of John A. and Emma (Richou) Marolf. LaVonne grew up in Sioux City and attended Floyd Grade School, North Junior and then graduated from Central High School in 1944. She went to Carlton College in Northfield, MN for 3 years. On November 6, 1947, LaVonne married Roger Lee Hasek in Sioux City. They raised 6 children and were married for 64 years. Roger passed away April 7, 2011 in Sioux City. LaVonne was a member for 53 years of the PEO, Chapter DH which was the oldest Chapter in Sioux City. She was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. LaVonne was baptized there and was a member of St. Mary’s Guild for Altar Duty and she worked in the St. Thomas Thrift Shop. She was affectionately called “Bun” for wearing her hair in a bun for nearly 70 years. Bun has a special love for her grandkids and great grandkids and enjoyed watching them play sports. She prided herself on doing 1000 leg lifts a night into her 80’s. LaVonne would have a smile on her face anytime she would see a dog. She especially enjoyed walking Bo for 10 years and having her buddy Ali for her bed partner. Survivors include her children: Lynne (Ron) Eaton of Sioux City, Julie Cornelia of Sioux City, John Hasek of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, Laurie (Lynn) Kucks of Omaha, NE and Diane (Shane) Frisch of Dakota Dunes, SD; grandchildren: Christa Davis, Shane and Chris Robak, Lauren Frisch and Duke Hasek; great grandchildren: Cash Davis, Hunter, Ava and Anika Hasek. LaVonne was preceded in death by her son Lee Stanley Hasek, her parents, her husband Roger, and her brother Leo Stanley Marolf.
