Eugene L. Brandt

Eugene L. Brandt, 91, of Newcastle, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021.  Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Congregational Church in Newcastle.  Burial will be at Newcastle City Cemetery.  

Eugene was born the son of Rudolph and Irene (Smith) Brandt on August 4, 1930 in Brunswick, Nebraska.  He was a heavy equipment operator for many years.  He worked for Schulte and Sons Construction and Newcastle Township until his retirement.  He also ran equipment and helped to build Gavins Point Dam.

He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and fireworks.  His dogs were always important to him. 

Eugene is survived by his siblings, Jeanette (Terry) Kelly, Lola Linstead, and Carolyn Jones; special niece and nephews, Katrina (Leray) Anderson and kids, Matthew Kelly, Mark (Michelle) Kelly, and Cody (Chelsi) Kelly; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rudy Brandt Jr.; sister, Lois Prochska; sister in infancy, Rudene; and nephews, Eugene, Kevin, John, and Richard.
