Linda (Gustavson) Wobschall

September 16, 1958 — July 29, 2007

Linda (Gustavson) Wobschall, 48, of Sioux City, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend died in her sleep due to a pulmonary embolism on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007, from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007, at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Alan Wicks officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Linda was born on September 16, 1958, to Ray and Twila (Tuttle) Gustavson in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up and graduated from West High School in 1977. In high school she participated in choir, cheerleading, musicals, and art. She was an amazing artist and always saw the beauty around her. She attended Northwestern College for two years. In September of 1979, she enlisted in the United States Air Force as a computer systems repair technician and lived in Minot, N.D. and Biloxi, MS. She was honorably discharged in October of 1981. She returned to Sioux City and worked at Shopko Optical. She transferred to Rochester, MN where she met Randy Wobschall and they were united in marriage on June 7, 1989. They built their own home together in Byron, MN. Their son, Devin, was born on October 10, 1991. Linda and Randy later divorced and she returned to Sioux City. She worked at the Sioux City Community Theater, the Census Bureau, the Department of Transportation, Mercy Home Care, and had her own home cleaning business.

Her greatest love was her son, Devin. She cherished their time together. They shared a love of dinosaurs, a love of learning, playing games, and having fun. They both had a great sense of humor and made each other laugh.

She loved chocolate.sunflower seeds.dressing up for Halloween with elaborate costumes.family movies.all sorts of games, especially board games. Lindas hobbies included swimming, writing, drawing, reading, and anything artistic. She was in several Community Theater productions along with assisting in set design.

Her love for children was immense because she was a kid at heart. She loved to listen to and teach children. Her enthusiasm was magnetic. She was a wonderful aunt and spent a lot of time and had an active interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her son, Devin, and ex-husband, Randy Wobschall, her mother, Twila Gustavson, sister, Karen (Cal) Corson, sister, Kay (Dan) Pecaut, brother, Mark Gustavson, brother, Brian (Nancy) Gustavson, half brother, Phil (Sarah) McLaughlin, half brother, Bill (Cathy) Bowman, and 12 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Gustavson.

The family asks that memorials be directed to the Devin Wobschall Trust Fund.
