William “Bill” J. Twohig, 83 of South Sioux City passed away Monday, April 20, 2026. A memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon at the funeral home.
Bill was born the son of Louis and Mary “Heleene” (Ryan) Twohig on October 1, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Heelan High School and then honorably served in the United States Army.
Bill worked at IBP for over 25 years. He also worked for CW Suter and Tri-State Plumbing.
Bill enjoyed playing cribbage and poker with the guys. He was a huge Notre Dame fan and a member of the “Boys of 68” and American Legion Post 307. His hobbies were building decks, golfing, and working in his yard.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Christy Bremer of Arkansas, grandchildren, Mitchell (Kayla), Devin; longtime partner, Shelly Peterson; stepchildren, Shane (Betsy) Peterson and Brandi (Steve) Lockmiller; grandchildren Matt (Rebecca), Storm(Maddy), Chase (Brayden) and Tyler and Dakota, several great grandchildren, brothers Jerry (Shirley), Mark (Tannis), Jim (Judy); and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lou and Heleene, and a sister in infancy, and his two best friends (brothers) Joe and George.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post 307-South Sioux City, Nebraska.
