Obituary

William Stanford “Bill” Siedschlag Jr., 83, of Sioux City, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Sioux City following declining health.

Bill was born January 29, 1943, in Mauston, Wisconsin to William Siedschlag Sr. and LaVonne (Siemoneit) Boles. He attended Leeds High School in Sioux City and graduated in 1961. Bill later attended Buena Vista University, studying accounting.

Bill proudly served four years in the United States Air Force as a Senior Air Policeman.

On March 23, 1968, Bill married Suzette (Mitchell) Siedschlag. The couple first met at the family grocery store, Siedschlag’s in the Leeds neighborhood of Sioux City, where Bill had worked since the age of five.

Bill and Sue later moved to Albia, Iowa where they lived on a small row-crop and cattle farm. During that time Bill worked for 30 years at John Deere in Ottumwa, serving as a supervisor/consultant in the paint department. In 2009, Bill and Sue downsized and returned to Sioux City to be closer to family and longtime friends.

During his high school years, Bill enjoyed athletics, water skiing, boating, and working at the family grocery store.

While farming for 37 years, Bill enjoyed the quiet life of the country, working on farm machinery and spending time in his woodworking shop, where he crafted many cherished family heirlooms. Even after returning to Sioux City, he continued woodworking and sharing his craftsmanship with family. One of his favorite traditions was hunting for morel mushrooms each spring, creating many lasting memories with his family…and yes, he did find the “mother load.”

In Sioux City he was a member of Wesley Global Methodist Church and enjoyed regularly meeting longtime friends for morning coffee.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William Siedschlag Sr. and LaVonne (Siemoneit) Boles, and his son, William Siedschlag III.

He is survived by his wife, Suzette (Mitchell) Siedschlag; his sister, Ann (Siedschlag) Redeker, his daughter, Heather (Siedschlag) Kay; and his grandchildren, Emily Kay and Carson Kay.

Bill was also an organ donor, continuing his generosity by helping others even after his passing.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Logan Park Cemetery.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to family, his craftsmanship, and the many memories shared with those who knew and loved him.

Memorials may be directed to the Wesley Global Methodist Church.
