William H. "Bill" Brown

William H. “Bill” Brown, 86 of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024. A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill was born the son of Harry and Katherine (Braun) Brown on January 1, 1938 in Danbury, Iowa. He graduated from Danbury High School. Bill married Sandra Porter in 1960. To this union three children were born. He later married Judy Malmberg on February 14, 1989. Judy passed away September 2, 2018. 

Bill moved to Sioux City where he worked for Armour and Co. for 20 years before working for Mid-American for another 20 years until his retirement. 

One of Bill's favorite roles was being a grandpa. He took great pride in being a grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a huge Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He was an accomplished gardener and member of the Iris Club for many years. He also enjoyed square dancing, singing, and bird watching. He will be widely remembered for helping others and socializing, often about sports and his strong faith. 

Bill is survived by his children, Jon Brown of Cedar Rapids, IA, William (Jamie) Brown, Jr. of Sioux City, IA, and Heidi (Sammi) Brown of Omaha, NE; step-daughters, Tracy (Leif) Larson of Sioux City, IA, Wendy (Robert) Olson of Sioux City, IA, Corey Jons of Sioux City, IA, and Amy (Peter Julian) McGeorge of Alameda, CA; sisters, Joan Mahin and Delores Quarrels; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dogs. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; and sister, Donna.
