William Edwin “Bill” Billings, 76, of Sioux City, IA passed away on February 14, 2024.
Abiding by Bill’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
William “Bill”, the son of Walter and Marjorie (Holste) Billings, was born January 3, 1948, in Griswold, IA. He was raised on the family farm southeast of Lyman, IA. Bill graduated from Griswold High School with the Class of 1965. Following high school, he attended the University of Iowa then worked various jobs before moving to Sante Fe, NM. While living in Sante Fe, he worked as a mechanic at a Ford dealership. After the passing of his father, Bill moved back to Iowa and during this time he completed his education at the University of Iowa.
On January 30, 1995, Bill was united in marriage Susan “Sue” Nail in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home in the Siouxland area and Bill worked for several years at Gateway until their closing. In 2017, Bill and Sue moved to Casa De Paz in Sioux City, and she passed away in 2018. He continued living at Casa De Paz until his passing.
Bill enjoyed playing cards and was excellent at trivia. He loved Ford vehicles and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his brother Larry (Cheryl) Billings of Hancock, IA; sister Linda Pierson of Oakland, IA; stepson Brian Nail of Sioux City; granddaughter Maddie of Sioux City; two nephews: Jim Billings and fiancé Gayle Carroll of Walnut, IA and Josh (Mandy) Billings of Hancock; one niece Erin Pierson of Blue Springs, MO; two great nieces: Avri and Orion Billings of Hancock; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sue; and one brother-in-law Mike Pierson.
