Wayne was born on January 26, 1951, in Sioux City to Donald and Dorothy (Corkery) Lundgren. He grew up with six siblings: brothers Mark, Tom, and Brian, and sisters Rita, Mary, and Susie. He attended Sioux City schools until age 11 and later attended Boys Town in Omaha, NE, graduating in 1969.
Following graduation, Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years. He served as a military policeman and attained the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, Wayne spent more than 35 years working as a truck driver for various companies.
Wayne married Suzanne Clark on August 18, 1984, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron, Iowa. For the past 18 years, he shared a special friendship and companionship with Kathy Baker. During that time, Kathy and her children—Donna, Stephanie, Manny, and Jack—became an important part of Wayne's life. Wayne and Kathy supported one another through life's joys and challenges and shared many meaningful years together.
Wayne’s community service included several years in the Shrine organization and enjoyed performing as a clown with Abu Bekr Shrine's White Horse Patrol. A devoted supporter of the Sioux City Musketeers, Wayne hosted several players throughout the years and also drove the team bus. He was also a member of American Legion Post 64.
Wayne is survived by his longtime companion and friend, Kathy Baker and Kathy's children, Donna (Kip) Boetger, Stephanie (Mike) Stabile, Manny Baker, and Jack (Marci) Baker; along with many nieces and nephews.
