Wayne “Butch” Lorenzo Gordon, Jr. 76 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at a local hospital. A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Family requests this to be a casual occasion with friends and family being invited to share memories and stories to celebrate Butch’s life. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. A private family interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Butch was born on October 22, 1949, to Wayne Lorenzo Gordon, Sr. and Luella (Claussen) Gordon. The nickname “Butch” was given to him as a small boy by one of his father’s buddies, and it stayed with him throughout his life. Everyone knew him simply as Butch. He grew up in Sioux City. After attending East High School, he married Judy Junck on October 4, 1969, whom he had known since elementary school. Judy was the love-of-his-life, his partner, and the person who stood beside him through every chapter of their life together.

For 50 years, Butch owned and operated Gordon’s Body Shop where he restored and worked on cars. For 30 of those years, he had the privilege to mentor and work with his son Shane. Every morning, local men gathered at the shop for coffee, and Butch was always at the center of it. He was quick-witted, loved to joke, and brought humor to whatever the day handed him. He was deeply passionate about his work and was widely regarded as not just one of the finest auto body painters in the area, but a talented artist. Restoring cars was just one of Butch’s passions. He loved family trips with the grandkids, especially several trips to Kansas City Worlds of Fun and the Great Wolf Lodge. He enjoyed attending his grandkids activities and sporting events. He also enjoyed traveling with Judy, his sisters, and their spouses. Some of their favorite trips included visits to the Black Hills, car shows, and automotive events throughout the country. Butch was also known for his sweet tooth and his fondness for pets. In recent years, he especially enjoyed “Big Boy”, a stray cat the family welcomed into their home.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Tom Kurzak.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy of Sioux City; daughter Heather Gordon and her two sons, Marcus and Dominic; son Shane Gordon and his two children Jonah and Bella; sisters Phyllis Kurzak and Diana (Dave) Powers; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly. Butch was also excited to know that his grandson Dominic Lorenzo and Kori are expecting a son in two weeks, who will be named Rome Lorenzo.

Butch will be remembered for his devotion to Judy and his family, his generosity, his quick wit and sense of humor, his remarkable talent in auto body work, his passion for restoring cars, and the community of friends he built one cup of coffee at a time at Gordon’s Body Shop.
