IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanita Irene
Twito
February 19, 1969 – January 31, 2026
Wanita Irene Twito, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this life at her home on January 31, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Born on February 19, 1969, in Sioux City, Iowa, Wanita was a vibrant spirit whose warmth radiated to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
A proud graduate of West High School, Wanita embraced the role of homemaker with heartfelt dedication, finding immense joy in caring for her family. Her love for her husband, Chris Twito, shone brightly throughout their 35 years of marriage, rooted in mutual respect and admiration. Wanita was a fun-loving person with a heart of gold, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. To those around her, she was like a mom, nurturing and uplifting, embodying the spirit of kindness that touched everyone she met.
As a devoted mother, Wanita celebrated her children—Holly (Arlan) Whitefeather, Josh (Shaylee) Twito, and Lea Twito—with unparalleled pride. The bond she shared with her grandchildren, Trinity Whitefeather, Cambrie Whitefeather, and Bane Twito, brought her immeasurable joy. She cherished every moment spent watching her granddaughters play basketball and delighting in the growth of her grandson. Her heart swelled with pride as she navigated the joys of motherhood and grandmotherhood, cultivating a legacy of love that will continue to flourish.
Wanita had a passion for life that included a variety of interests. She adored going to Bingo, immersed herself in scrapbooking, and loved cooking for her family. Her enthusiastic spirit was also evident as she cheered on her beloved Kansas City Chiefs, celebrating every touchdown with unabashed joy. Those who knew her understood just how special she was; her ability to light up a room was unmatched.
In addition to her loving family, Wanita leaves behind her mother, Shirley Spray; her siblings, Christine (Leroy) Marsh, Rip Watterson, and Jon (Cindy) Spray; her uncle John Bennett; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts. She was predeceased by her father, Richard “Dick” Spray; her father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Twito; her sister, Tammy Brown; her niece, Jordan “Jordy” Beardshear; and her grandparents, Jot & Elizabeth Bennett.
Wanita Irene Twito will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but also for the countless lives she enriched through her compassion and kindness.
