Walter Raymond “Red” Schuttpelz, 90, of Hinton, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation with the family will be Friday, August 15, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Walt was born August 2, 1935, in Hubbard, Nebraska to Carl and Marie (Belz) Schuttpelz. He attended country school in Hinton.
In 1958, Walt married Carol Langley in Sioux City. To this union, one daughter was born. On September 16, 1961, Walt married Sylvia Porsch at St. Boniface Church in Sioux City.
Walt worked for the City of Sioux City until he was given the opportunity to farm Sylvia’s family farm. In later years, Walt worked at American Popcorn and Briar Cliff College. He enjoyed restoring tractors, fishing, reminiscing about old times, was an incredible mechanic, and enjoyed outdoors mowing his lawn.
Survivors include his children: Theresa (Jeff) Wiener of Ontario, CA, Donna (Kevin) Smith of Sioux City, Cindy (Terry) Hansen of Sioux City, Ray (Lynne) Schuttpelz of Sioux City, and Dave (Ranae) Schuttpelz of Hinton; eleven grandchildren: Carolyn, Trisha, Merideth, Jake, Kayla, Korey, Sarah, Kelsey, Erik, Erin, and Kiefer; and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl, his first wife Carol, and his wife Sylvia.
