Walter F. Cramer, 82, known affectionately as Walt, passed away on September 23, 2025, at the Wakefield Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. A Funeral Service honoring his life will be on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM with burial at Dakota City Cemetery.
He was born on August 18, 1943, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, the son of Harry and Louise (Dreas) Cramer.
Walt dedicated much of his professional life to various roles that showcased his industrious spirit. He began his career as a busboy at the Flamingo Inn, an initial step that set the tone for his commitment to hard work and service. Following this early experience, he further enhanced his skillset by working at Wonder Bakery, John L. Ross and Company, Wallbaums, and Thatcher’s Marina in South Sioux City, where he left an indelible mark through his diligence and dedication. Walt learned how to repair small engines and lawnmowers from his father and was extremely detailed in his work, especially his whittling.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Walt was a man of varied interests. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and the outdoors. His creative side flourished through whittling and carving, hobbies that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and artistic expression.
Walt is remembered by his loving sisters, Barbara Gorsage of Fresno, CA and Vickie Cramer of Waterbury, NE. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Louise Cramer, and his brothers and sisters. The bonds he shared with his family were evident throughout his life, leaving a legacy that will be felt by those who knew him.
