Virginia A. Ferris

  Virginia Alice (Kinney) Ferris, 87, of South Sioux City passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at her home, comforted by her family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Mohr & Becker Hunt Funeral Home.

  Virginia was born July 8, 1936 in Patricia, South Dakota, to Pete and Helen (Smith) Kinney. She married Ralph Ferris on October 23, 1954 in Taylor, Nebraska. Virginia worked for Seger’s Truck Stop Café and M&M Bakery in O’Neill, Nebraska, and went on to work for the Ramada Inn in South Sioux City.

  She loved reading books, dolls, watching WWE, and cherished her family above all else. Everyone who knew Virginia loved her wonderful hugs.

  She belonged to many women’s clubs in Dakota City.

  She is survived by her children: Nancy Harris (Greg), Donnie Ferris (Lynda), Linda Anderson (Terry), Lawrence Ferris (Lois), Connie Grove (Robert), and Billy Ferris (Stacy); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Ferris; sons: Ralph Ferris, Jr., and Delbert Ferris; and brothers: Richard Kinney and Henry “Hank” Kinney.
