Vasiliki "Vicki" I. Balomenos passed away peacefully in Sioux City, Iowa, on November 19, 2024, at the age of 87. Vasiliki, the daughter of John and Anastasia (Mousa) Iliopoulos, was born on January 4, 1937, in Greece. Vicki's early life was shaped by her upbringing and education in her homeland. She embarked on a new chapter of her life when she was united in marriage to Constantine J. Balomenos on December 7, 1958, in Greece. Their journey together took them to the United States, where they settled in several communities before making their home in Sioux City in 1980, after Constantine became the Priest at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
For most of her life, Vicki dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker, displaying exceptional cooking skills and a passion for needlework and sewing. She brought joy and comfort to those around her with her delicious meals and crafts. Vicki worked for twenty-five years at Coney Island on Hamilton Blvd. in Sioux City.
Vicki was known for her genuinely kind and caring nature, with an amazing smile that could brighten anyone's day. Her warm-hearted personality made her a beloved figure among her friends and family. She was actively involved in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where she participated in choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.
She took great pride in her family, which she loved dearly. Vicki is survived by her children and beloved grandchildren: James Balomenos and his children Kassitti Balomenos and Matthew Balomenos; Maria Fountoulakis and her husband Tom and their children Pamela Glanzer and her husband Casey and Anthony Fountoulakis and his wife Kayla; and one great grandson, Cole Glanzer.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reverend Father Constantine J. Balomenos, who passed away on February 24, 2015; and her three siblings.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, located at 900 6th St, Sioux City, IA. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
