Troy Roger Benson, 56, of Sioux City, IA passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Friday, July 29, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, August 5 at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home, Morningside Chapel; a luncheon will be served following the service. Burial will take place at a later date.

Troy was born in Sioux City, IA on August 11, 1965 to Roger Lansing Benson and Betheen Louise (Smith) Benson. He graduated from high school in 1983 and attended Western Iowa Tech Community College to study Telecommunications. After college he worked for various telecom companies for many years installing telephone switching equipment all over the United States and world, including Spain, Guam and Trinidad & Tobago. For the past 19 years, he worked at Lowe’s Improvement Store as a successful salesman in various departments.

In his free time, Troy enjoyed fishing, camping, grilling, collecting antique beer signs, growing hot peppers and spending time with his family and friends.

Troy is survived by his mother, Betheen Benson; his siblings Craig Benson (Shellie), Jeffrey Benson (Leisa), Crystal Benson and Carolee Humes; his 10 nieces and nephews; and his 3 great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Benson and brother, Elliott Benson.
