Timothy R. Sanders, 79 of Sioux City passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025. Visitation will be at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Friday, June 13, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with funeral service following at 7:00 p.m. Entombment will be held at a later date.

Tim was born the son of Leslie D. and Darlene (Gereau) Sanders on January 25, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa. Prior to his graduation from Central High School, he worked his first job with his father at Hagen Transportation.

Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he met his wife of forty-two years. Tim married Patricia Massengill on April 30, 1966 in Durant, Oklahoma. Tim and Patricia made their home in Germany before settling in Sioux City.

Tim honorably served in the U.S. Army on various bases state side and abroad from 1963 to 1980. He was awarded with the Soldiers Medal for distinguished service during peacetime in South Korea.

After his military service Tim worked as a supervisor at Tyson Foods. In his retirement he did janitorial work at the Boys & Girls Club of Siouxland until his health declined.

Tim enjoyed fishing and camping, especially with his grandson, Israel. He loved growing flowers and vegetables in his garden; he never met an animal he wouldn’t take home and would freely express his love for the Oklahoma Sooners softball and football.

Tim is survived by his children, Paul (Belinda) Sanders of Council Bluffs, Mark (Cassidy) Sanders of Dakota City, Christina Sanders of Sioux City, and Cheri Johnson of Akron; grandchildren, Richard, Brittany, Israel, Erica, Seth, Joshua, Aaron, Bryce, Josiah, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Evan Delaney, Dylan, and Aurora; one brother and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; and brother, Lindell.
