Thomas "Tom" R. Kloucek Jr.

Thomas R. Kloucek Jr., 89, of North Sioux City, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 am Friday, December 29, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd.  Sioux City, IA 51104 with Father Tim Friedrichsen officiating. The burial with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Thomas was born August 12, 1934, in Sioux City to Lucille Whalen and Thomas R. Kloucek Sr.  Thomas attended Heelen Catholic, while there he was quarterback and was part of the boxing team. After graduating from Heelen Catholic High School in 1953, he joined the Marine Corps where he was stationed in Honolulu, HI and later Japan. Fortunately for Thomas the Korean war ended and he made his way back to Sioux City and met Patricia L. Grillet. They later married on January 18, 1958.  They established their home in Sioux City, IA. Thomas was employed at IPS which later became Mid-American Energy for 35 years. After retirement, he spent his winter months in Mesa, AZ.

Thomas was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Thomas enjoyed bowling, golf and slow pitch softball. He also enjoyed Heelan sporting events and his grandson’s activities.

Survivors include his daughter Kimberly Kloucek of South Sioux City; a son Thomas R. Kloucek III and his wife DeAnn along with their two sons Patrick and Tyler of Dakota Dunes, and another grandson Aaron Short and his significant other Courtney Card of Salt Lake City, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother Lucille and father Thomas, along with his wife Patricia and daughter Lisa.

Pallbearers are Ray Kayl, Tom Kayl, Bob Kull, Greg Peck, Tom Ford and Terry Rose. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandsons Aaron Short, Patrick and Tyler Kloucek.
