Thomas Michael "Tom" Reiling

Thomas Michael “Tom” Reiling, 54, of South Sioux City, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, at a local hospital.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 13, 2023, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with Reverend Sandra Braasch officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Tom was born July 14, 1969, in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of Jannette (Sisson) Burns and Frank Reiling.  He grew up in the Siouxland area and from a young age, Tom loved to tinker with tools and fix things and in his younger years, he bought, sold, and repaired bicycles.  Tom then was employed by the sawmill owned by Meyers Inc. for 19 years. 

Tom enjoyed attending auctions and collecting small antique trucks.  He could often be found at the Crystal Café drinking coffee and catching up on the town gossip.  Tom was a simple man, but people enjoyed being around him.  He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Tom is survived by his mother Jannette Burns of South Sioux City; sisters:  Kathryn (Marvin) Downing of Oto, IA, Jacalyn Barnes of Joliet, IL, and Georgette (Stephen) Gonshorowski of Dakota City, NE; nieces and nephews:  Coleen, Caryn, Jillian, Damian, Erik, Adam, and Andra; and several great nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his stepfather A.J. Burns and his father Frank H. Reiling.
