Thomas R. “Tom” Engle, 67, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at a local care facility. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Please wear your Hawkeye or Cardinal attire in honor of Tom, casual dress is encouraged! Following the service, there will be a gathering at the Elks Lodge, 1001 Tri View Avenue, for a continued time of fellowship.
Tom was born on April 25, 1957 in Sioux City, to Ronald and Elaine (Polly) Engle. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Heelan High School. He remained a Sioux City resident for most of his life, but did spend a few years living in California, where he owned a Mustang restoration business, restoring old 60s and 70s classic Mustangs.
On April 9, 1988 Tom married the love of his life, Kriss Burris. Together they had two daughters, Nicole and Natalie.
Tom was a truck driver for over 40 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a truck driver, and was extremely proud to share the profession with his dad.
As a child Tom enjoyed playing baseball, and continued his love of the sport by playing softball for several years as an adult. He also enjoyed restoring old cars, golfing with his brothers, and cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Giada, whom he absolutely adored.
Tom is survived by his daughters: Nicole Engle (Nate Bauer) and Natalie Engle (Jake Rus); granddaughter, Giada; his lifelong love and friend, Kriss Engle; siblings: Steve Engle, Tim Engle (Jackie), Jeanne Johnson (Doug), Doug Engle (Syd), Jacque Satter (Rich), and Julie Most (Loren); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Elaine Engle; nephew, Bobby Engle; sister-in-law, Patti Engle; brother-in-law, Craig Burris; and parents-in-law, Wayne and Lucy Burris.
