Thomas Allen De Roos Sr., 84, of Dakota City, NE, entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2026, at home.

Tom was born on February 25th, 1942, in Aberdeen, SD, to Inga and Nick. He grew up in South Dakota and graduated from Vermillion High School.

On July 7th, 1966, Tom married the love of his life, Karen. Together they had three children, Tammy, Thomas Jr., and Jodi. He devoted his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Tom started working at Tyson, formally known as IBP in 1967. During his time at Tyson, he earned many degrees in safety and ergonomics, including a bachelor's and master's degree. Tom took great pride in all his accomplishments and worked hard to earn his well-deserved retirement in 2014.

Tom was known by his loved ones as a family man. In his early years, when he wasn't traveling for work, you could find him anywhere his grandkids were. Tom had a love for collecting things, baseball cards and coins being just a few of those things. He enjoyed crafting with his wife, spending time outdoors, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Whatever he was doing, he was doing with Karen at his side. The true love that he and Karen shared was the kind you could only dream of, and it was a blessing to everyone lucky enough to witness it.

Tom was survived by his wife, Karen De Roos of Dakota City, NE; his daughter, Tammy Hendrickson of Dakota City; his son, Thomas (Jennifer) De Roos of Omaha; his brother, Benny De Roos of Kennewick Washington; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Inga Collar; father, Nick De Roos; stepfather, Virgil Collar; his brother, Les De Roos; his daughter, Jodi De Roos Horalek; his son in-law, Thomas Hendrickson; and grandson, Zach Borrell.
