Thelma J. Brown, 99, of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at a local hospital. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later time.
Thelma was born on June 11, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John and Marie (Swanson) Johanson. She grew up and attended school in Maskell, Nebraska. She moved to Sioux City following high school and has been a Sioux City resident since.
On November 1, 1987 she married Edward Brown in Sioux City.
Thelma worked at Younkers in Sioux City for over 30 years until she retired.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed knitting hats for the cancer center.
Survivors include her long time companion Dale Beasley, daughter, Alice Johnson, son-in-law James Johnson, grandchildren Jerry Johnson, Jodi Barney, Andy Nelson, Terri Boone, Lori Hartman, Steve Antrim and Becky Antrim. Plus many loved great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Brown; daughters Nancy Borrink and Diane Pruse.
