Suzanna Marie Corey Stickney passed peacefully from this life into the arms of our Lord, surrounded by family after an unexpected hospitalization on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes. Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, from 5 pm-8 pm, with a Trisaigon service at 7 pm, at the St. Thomas Orthodox Church (ROCOR). The funeral service will be on Friday, June 7, at 11:00 am and will be broadcast on the church's YouTube and Facebook pages. All services will be at St Thomas Orthodox Church 1100 Jones St. Sioux City, IA.
Suzanna was born March 27, 1950, to parents Ferris (Flash) and Selma Corey. She graduated from East High School.
After a whirlwind romance, Suzanna married her forever love George Stickney. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. George and Suzanna and their six children moved several times experiencing different parts of the country. As empty nesters, Suzanna and George traveled often, especially to favorites like Arizona, North Carolina, and New York, but always called Sioux City home. The Adorable Suzanna was always the life of the party who inspired many to look for the good in life. When she entered the room with her boisterous Hello! all eyes would be on her. She made friends everywhere she went. Suzanna loved talking with people and reminding them to always love themselves. Suzanna was a lifelong member of St Thomas Orthodox Church and was very proud of her faith and her church. She was active in the Ladies Club, helping with bake sales and church dinners. Thankfully she was normally the motivator and never the cook! Participating in church services and events was a priority for Suzanna.
Suzanna is survived by her husband of 50 years, George. Her children also survive her: Denise Stickney, Chris (Margaret) Stickney, Gabrielle Stickney, David Stickney, Daniel Stickney, and George (Elisa) Stickney Jr.; grandchildren: Erica (Matt) Ameen, Elias Stickney, John Stickney, Lucy Stickney, Liza Stickney, Robert Stickney, Kayleigh Stickney, and Paul Stickney; great-grandson, Jaxson Ameen; brother Nick (Carol) Corey, and many nieces and nephews. Whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Selma and Ferris (Flash) Corey; brother, Robert Corey; sister, Esther McDaniels; niece, Nora McDaniels; and nephew, Brian Corey.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff of doctors and nurses at the University of Iowa Hospital, Hospice of Siouxland, and Unity Point Health Center for the incredible love and care that was shown to Suzanna and her family at this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, financial gifts to the family to cover unexpected medical, travel, and funeral costs are greatly appreciated.
