Susan Lynn Sitzmann, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at home in her sleep from the effects of a brain aneurysm, on February 3, 2026, at the age of 51. Born on March 21, 1974, in Sibley, Iowa, she was the daughter of Dennis and Joann (Speiler) Bos.
Having graduated from Sioux City North High School with the class of 1992, Susan continued her education in medical coding and early childhood education at Western Iowa Tech. Susan was a dedicated worker at Allied Solutions, where she worked as an insurance processor.
Family was the cornerstone of Susan’s life. She was the devoted mother of Olivia, who was her whole world. Susan was deeply proud of all that Olivia has become, and her connection with her daughter was characterized by profound love. The joy of their shared experiences, such as trips to the zoo and heartfelt conversations about family and life, created lasting memories that they both treasured.
Susan's caring nature showed through in challenging times, especially in her support of her brother, Jesse, during his cancer treatments. It was in those moments that her gentle soul and compassionate heart were most evident.
Susan understood the simple joys in life and embraced them fully. Her family fondly remembers her ability to assemble very difficult puzzles which would leave them in awe. She loved books, movies, and animals, and she was known for her compassion, and her independent spirit and keen sense of justice resonated with all who had the honor of knowing her.
Susan is survived by her daughter Olivia and son-in-law Scott Geary; her mother Joann (Bos) Coy and stepfather Jim Coy; her brother Jesse Bos and niece Charlotte Bos; stepsiblings Tami (Bill) Hummel, Micki (Kenny) Bride, and Jason Coy; her grandmother Esther Bos; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She rejoins her daughter Audrey Rose; her father Denny Bos; grandparents Frank and Saverna Spieler and Pete Bos; and step-grandma Rose Coy, all of whom have preceded her in death.
Susan's loving memory will continue to remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will inspire those left behind to cherish each moment and to hold their loved ones close. She was truly one of a kind, and she will forever be missed.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa.
