Susan Maria Hanson

November 30, 1932 — October 27, 2022

Susan Maria Hanson, 89, of Sioux City, passed away, Thursday, October 27, 2022 at a local assisted living facility.  Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no local service held.  A private graveside service will be held at Graceland Park Cemetery.

Susan was born in Sioux City on November 30, 1932 to Iola and E. Quillen Hoberg.  She attended Sioux City schools.  Susan married Robert F. “Bob” Hanson on August 24, 1950.  They spent most of their married life in Sioux City.  Susan and Bob had three children; a son, Michael “Mike”, and two daughters, Robbi (Mike) Codina and Debbie (Jim) Lane.

Susan loved animals, watching television, and spending time with family and friends.  She and Bob spent winters in Arizona and summers in Okoboji, but Susan was always glad to get back to her home in Sioux City.

Susan is survived by her daughters; grandchildren, Adam Hanson, Chris (Katie) Codina, Tony (Erika) Codina, Keenan Lane and Mattie (fiancé, Devon Cadwell) Lane; great-grandchildren, Hunter Lane, Colton Lane, Macie Codina, Corey Codina, Isabel Codina and Colton Codina; daughters-in-law, Choi Hanson and Carol Newburn; sisters-in-law, Donna Benson and Marilyn Hoberg; many nieces and nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Mike; infant brother, Quillen, sister, Nancy Wooldridge; brother, Steve Hoberg; nephew, Pat Hartnett; and many sisters and brothers-in-law.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Heritage at Northern Hills and Hospice of Siouxland for their compassionate care.  Please direct any memorial donations to Hospice of Siouxland or the Siouxland Humane Society.
