Steven "Steve" L. Horton, 70, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his residence in Sioux City. Born on July 26, 1955, in Akron, IA, Steve was the son of Wayne and Virginia Horton. He grew up on a farm near Akron.
His career as a truck driver spanned his entire life, a profession that suited his steadfast nature and love of the open road. Alongside this career, motorcycles played a significant role in Steve’s life. For over 40 years, he enthusiastically attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and enjoyed several years at the Daytona Rally. These events, and the time he spent on his bike with family and friends, created some of his most cherished memories. Steve was also known as a great leader during Buffalo Runs with his motorcycle group, guiding and inspiring those who rode with him.
Steve was a straight shooter, always direct and to the point, yet he showed deep care and concern for his family and friends.
Steve enjoyed watching Westerns, a pastime that reflected his appreciation for straightforward heroes and stories of resilience. Those who knew Steve will fondly remember his trademark phrase, “Lucky Dog.”
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Jolene, and her family; two grandsons, Matthew Horton and Steven Horton; and one great grandson, Oliver. He is also survived by his six sisters and their families: Sally, Sue, Sharon, Sandy, Shelly, and Sona.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Virginia Horton; one son, Billy "Bill" N. Horton; and many friends throughout the years who shared parts of his journey.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 5:00 p.m. at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City in Sioux City.
