Steven Charles Ristau, 63, of Sioux City, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023. A small Celebration of Life service with close family and friends will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Riverside Park, shelter #7, in Sioux City. There will be a private ceremony releasing memorial lanterns prior to the Celebration.
Steven was born on March 29, 1960 in Sioux City, to Carol Ann Smith and Merrill D. Ristau. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gambling, and eating a good steak, eggs (sunny side up!) and potatoes.
He spent most of his life working on roofing and trees. He was a man of God who loved his family and children very much. His goal in life was to write a book called “A Child Who Needed a Lawyer.”
Left to cherish his memory include his two sons: Christopher Ristau (Kayla) and their two daughters, Tabby and Rylee, and Timothy Kavanaugh; his two daughters: Samantha Ristau (Cody) and their son, Quinton, and Kristal Kavanaugh (Jeremy) and their three sons, Dawson, Haeden, and Easton; his wife and the mother to his children, Jodie Stott-Ristau; sister, Melissa Fischer (Dave); and brother, Scott Ristau.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Carol Smith and Merrill Ristau; his maternal grandparents: Archie and Opal Derby; and his paternal grandparents: Arno and Mary Ristau.
