Steven E. Haskins

Steven Eugene Haskins, 68, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at a local hospital.

Visitation starts at noon then the funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Graceland Park Cemetery.

Steve was born on July 21, 1956, in Sioux City to Donald and Shirley (Wilcox) Haskins. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from East High School, graduated from Morningside College, and spent time as a substitute teacher in surrounding school districts.

Steve is survived by his son, Seth Haskins, who was the pride and joy of his life.

He had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures: cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, watching classic films, photographing the world around him, and feeding the birds outside his window. He cherished warm weather, the company of family, and always made room in his heart for others—no matter how little he had. Steve was a longtime member of Southern Hills Baptist Church.

In addition to his son, Steve is survived by his mother, Shirley Haskins of Sioux City; and five sisters: Lori Deal of Venice, FL; Doneen (Gary) Conaway of Sioux City; Pamela McGarr of Kansas City, MO;; Andrea (Kevin) Gray of Sioux City; and Christine (Steve) Paxson of Bloomington, IL.

He also leaves behind 15 nieces and nephews: Harvey III, Shurie, Chad, Jason

(Bao Tran), Jacob (Sierra), Valerie (Andrew), Heather, Michelle (Ryan), Derek (Tonya), Abigail, Joshua, Ali, Emma, and Will; and 9 great-nieces and nephews: Reese, Riley, Evan, Mia, Liam, Grace, Owen, Jared, and Connor.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Donald Haskins.
