Stephen M. "Steve" Talley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away on June 9, 2024, at a local hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
Steve was born on June 25, 1957, in Talladega, Alabama to his loving parents Leonard and Pauline "Polly" Talley.
In his early years, Stephen attended Talladega High School in Alabama and later served in the Navy for three honorable years. Throughout his life, Stephen pursued various career paths, working at IBP for several months, then at Missouri Valley Steel until 1997, and finally at Prince Manufacturing until his well-deserved retirement in 2017.
Beyond his professional achievements, Stephen was a man of many passions. He enjoyed playing golf, engaging in friendly poker games, exploring different destinations through traveling, and showing unwavering support for his favorite team as an avid Alabama Fan.
Stephen will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife Elaine; his children: Shawn (Rebecca) Talley of Rehobeth, AL; Stephanie (William) Fikes of Columbia, AL; Dawn Andrews and fiancé Austin Cave of South Sioux City; as well as his stepchildren: Jeremy Sejnoha; Jason (Tonya) Koller; and Amy (Ben) Wiedemeier. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: David, Jacob, Andrew, Brandon, Elizabeth, Dirik, Destiny, William "Mater", Isabelle and fiancé Carter, Aubrey, Camden, Raylan; Tate, Trevor, Turner, Skyler, Emma, Paige, and Simon; along with his bonus children Matt and Danny Weiershauser; and sisters: Sandy (Fred) Mitchell and Cathy (Johnny) Hardegree; nieces Barbera, Amanda, and Catie; and great nieces and nephews - all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stephen's warm smile, generous heart, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
