Stephen Alan Dugdale

December 21, 1957 — December 19, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

Stephen Alan Dugdale, 67, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was surrounded by his loving family.

In honor of Steve's life visitation will be held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 P.M. Family and friends are encouraged to come together to share memories and celebrate the life of a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.

Born on December 21, 1957, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Dale and Marge (Kross) Dugdale, Steve attended St. Joseph, Woodrow Wilson Middle School, and North High School.

Steve enjoyed a lengthy career, beginning with work at Port Neal before moving on to St. Joseph Hospital. He subsequently joined the shipping and receiving department of Mercy Hospital, where he devoted over 40 years of service. His professional life was characterized by commitment and a tireless work ethic that left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs, as many will remember Hawkeye deck gatherings. Steve cherished the outdoors and enjoyed spending time going to the river. His travels to Colorado brought him great joy, as did his love for music. However, nothing brought him more happiness than his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Jill Dugdale; his daughter, Melissa "Missy" Tanner, and her husband, Dusty Tanner of Lenexa, Kansas, and their children, Aspen, Madalen, and Landen Tanner; his son, Stephen Dugdale of Sioux City, and his children, Finley, Hendrix, and Rexa Dugdale; and his sister, Patti Swanson, and her husband, Keith Swanson of Fruita, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Marge Dugdale; his in-laws, Jerry and Joan Hansel; his brothers, Mike and Vince Dugdale; and his brother-in-law, Craig Hansel.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for all of the care and support.
