Shyla D. Jones

Shyla D. Jones, 49 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at a local hospital.  Funeral Services will be at 11:30 Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Shyla was born on February 18, 1974 in Bloomington, Indiana to Craig and Rita (Bartelt) Roeder.  She grew up in Bloomington until her 20’s, lived for a brief time in Sioux City, and returned to Indiana.  Shyla resumed her love and life with her life-long partner Don Jones back in Siouxland.  For the better part of her adult life, she was a homemaker.

Shyla enjoyed cooking, camping, traveling, anything to do with family, and was very hands-on with her grandchildren.  She collected, and loved garden gnomes, which can be found throughout her home.

Shyla is survived by her husband Donald “Don” Jones of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; children Carrie (Bobby) Birdsell, Jeffrey Webb, Jordan (Kaylee) Webb, Travis Jones, and Christopher Jones; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandbaby on the way; and father Craig (Lisa) Roeder.

Shyla was preceded in death by her mother Rita Roeder, paternal grandfather Paul Roeder, paternal grandmother Betty Wade, and both of her maternal grandparents.
