Shelia Marie Yingst

December 3, 1956 — December 6, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

Shelia Marie Yingst, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 peacefully at her home in Sioux City, Iowa. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Patti Meyer officiating. Visitation, with family present, will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to services.

Shelia was born on December 3, 1956 in Sioux City to Dale and Goldie (Sutliff) Mulhair. She received her education in the Sioux City Public School system before entering the work force. Shelia worked as an office manager in the railroad industry for nearly 40 years before her retirement in 2024.

Shelia married Dennie B. Yingst on July 25, 1975 in Sioux City, Iowa. She found her greatest joy in her family, including the dinners she was famous for preparing (including those that spilled food on her good tablecloths). Shelia was fun-loving, always there to help anyone, watching her grandchildren’s activities, and reluctantly cruising in the Vette with Dennie!

She enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos along the way. Shelia had a competitive nature, which included video games with her grandkids, and golfing with her husband. She’d seldom forgo the opportunity to remind Dennie that she had her Hole-in-One before he had any of his. Shelia would continue her nature even on dining out, she’d always fight to pay for the meals!

Family and friends meant everything to Shelia, and her memories will last a lifetime with everyone she got to know. Oh’ let’s not forget, she loved her Diet Coke.

Left to cherish her memories include her son Shane (Jennifer) Yingst of Whiting, Iowa; stepdaughters Chris (Roy) Rios of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Angie (Andy) Sipple of Albertville, Minnesota, and Nancy (Grant) Marquardt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren Colin, Clayton, Braeden, Trever, Tristan, Cece, Luke, Gabby, Alex, Mary, Nathan, Viggo, and Eli; great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews; and cousin/best friend Jim Sutliff.

Shelia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennie in May of 2024, brother Albert Mulhair, and sister Sandra Eagleburger.
