Obituary

Sharon Lynn Mitchell was born June 30, 1940, on the farm outside of Kingsley, Iowa, to James and Gladys Mitchell. Sharon grew up and attended school in Kingsley. After graduation she moved to Sioux City where she was trained and employed as a hospital nurse’s aide for several years. She was married to Glenn Shimitz on November 19,1961, and was blessed with three children, Nancy, Paul and Tracy.

After marriage, Sharon cared for the children and worked at home. She was an amazing cook, loved to bake, and readily shared her recipes. The entire family always awaited her holiday wonders with much anticipation. She truly was a loving and kind person. When she was younger, she most enjoyed helping around the kitchen and playing with her two younger brothers, Jim and Larry. She loved animals and always had at least one dog or cat around to keep her company.

Even after her children were grown and gone, she continued to love children and often helped the neighbors caring for their children when needed. There were always children running around the house when Sharon was home. She had the unique ability to connect with children and people of all ages.

Sharon loved family gatherings and looked forward to family reunions with all of the aunts, uncles and cousins. Fun, great meals and family was her specialty. She was a previous and active member of the Trimble United Methodist Church for many years.

Sharon is deeply missed by her son Paul and his wife Tina, live in Glendale, AZ, and either two sons, Bradon and Nathan. Paul is retired from the US Air Force.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn and two daughters, Tracy and Nancy.
