Obituary

Sharon K. Culbertson, 84, died at home on Saturday, March 14, 2026. A funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Mayflower United Congregational Church of Christ. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial service will be held at Graceland Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Culbertson was born the daughter of Charles and Laura (Komich) Streeter on June 27, 1941, in McCook Lake, South Dakota. She grew up on the family farm in southern Union County. She attended school at Sioux Point Grade School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959. She married Richard Culbertson on November 30, 1962, in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

She worked as a licensed beautician, later working at Zenith and then Metz Baking Companies. She was an active member of Mayflower United Church of Christ, scheduling ushers and greeters for many years. She enjoyed playing cards with her group of lady friends and going to water aerobics at Four Seasons gym. She loved to make peanut brittle and provided over 200 families with her special peanut brittle every year. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, great grandmother, and friend.

Survivors include, her son, Dennis (Jennie) Culbertson; daughter, Bonnie (Rob) Couch; brothers, Bob (Paulette) Streeter and John Streeter all of Sioux City; granddaughters, Megan (Elsen) Hoxhalli and Melissa (Samer) Khalaf both of Des Moines; grandson, Mitchell Culbertson of LeMars; and five great grandchildren, Benjamin, Frederick, Ella, Luca, and Harrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott; husband, Richard Culbertson; siblings, Raymond Streeter, Donald Streeter, Joyce Foster, and Eugene “Boz” Streeter; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Culbertson.
