Seth Alan Bernstrauch

On Monday, June 29, 2026, Seth Alan Bernstrauch, 33, of Homer, Nebraska, passed away suddenly from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Following this, the family will host a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to the Siouxland Humane Society in Seth’s memory.

Seth was born on March 31, 1993, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Rodney and Patricia (Kaup) Bernstrauch. He was a 2011 graduate of South Sioux City High School. In 2016, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Finance from Wayne State College. Following his college graduation, Seth honorably served on active duty as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 2016 to 2021 and proudly continued his service in the Marine Corps Reserves. For the past five years, Seth has been the Panel Shop Manager for Echo Electric.

An avid outdoorsman, Seth enjoyed hunting, shooting, and spending summer days out on the lake waterskiing and knee boarding with the Gesell family. Growing up as one of four boys, he developed a lifelong passion for sports, especially football and basketball. Above all, Seth cherished his family. He deeply enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephew. He was an honest, genuine soul. While he often carried a tough exterior, he had a fiercely soft heart for those close to him and always protected the family. He often looked for the good in others. His friendship was a true gift. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives, but his fierce spirit remains.

Seth is survived by his parents, Rodney and Patricia Bernstrauch; his siblings, Chance (Samantha) Bernstrauch, Kyle (Ashley) Bernstrauch, and Lane Bernstrauch (Elizebeth “Libby” Pope); his nephew, Colt; his nieces, Peyton, Sawyer, Jolie, and Loguen; and his expected nephew. He is also survived by his fiancé, Jordan Porter, and his future stepchildren, Michael, Myla, and Lucas among many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Neil Kaup, Louise Crosbie, and David Bernstrauch; and his uncle, Greg Bernstrauch.
