Scott Nicholas Hoefling, 55, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Scott was born on January 23, 1971, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Madonna and Vincent Hoefling. He was the seventh of eight children and grew up on the family farm outside of Hinton, where he developed a strong work ethic, deep family values, and a love for rural life. Scott graduated from Hinton High School in 1989 and remained proud of the community he called home throughout his life.

After graduating from Hinton High School, Scott continued working for Weinrich Trucking, where he had started in the shop during high school before becoming a truck driver. In 1994, Scott began his career at Interbake Foods in North Sioux City. Over the next 32 years, he became a dedicated and valued employee, known for his reliability, commitment, and hard work.

On June 29, 1996, Scott married his high school sweetheart, Pam, at St. Joseph Ellendale Catholic Church near Merrill, Iowa. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Shortly after their marriage, they established their first and only home on an acreage outside of Hinton, where they created countless memories and raised their four children: Cassie, Kade, Katelyn, and Kimberly.

He took great pride in his role as a husband and father. His family was the center of his life, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved. Whether working around the acreage, sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying time together, Scott's steady presence and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Scott loved working with his hands and could often be found in the garage or workshop fixing, tinkering, and bringing things back to life. He had a natural mechanical ability and enjoyed working on snowmobiles, lawnmowers, and just about anything with an engine. Family and friends knew that if something was broken, Scott was often the person to call. He enjoyed the challenge of figuring out how things worked and took pride in repairing them with skill and determination.

He also had a deep love for the mountains and wide-open spaces of Wyoming and Montana. Some of his happiest moments were spent traveling with his family to the places he loved most, especially Glacier National Park and the Togwotee area of Wyoming. Scott enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and family throughout his life and developed a love for the Togwotee area for his snowmobiling adventures with his son Kade, and many others. He seemed to know every road, landmark, trail, and story connected to those special places. Sharing those adventures with his family brought him tremendous joy, and his enthusiasm for the region was contagious.

Scott had a deep passion for the outdoors and a gift for bringing people together. Some of his family’s fondest memories took place in Yankton, riding bikes along the trails and camping. Whether traveling to Minnesota for Hay Days in the truck camper he loved so much, or just staying at home on a nice night, he knew how to appreciate the good times, both on the road and at home.

An exceptional storyteller, Scott had a gift for bringing memories to life. His children loved listening to his stories, whether they were tales from family trips, lessons learned, or humorous recollections that always seemed to get better with each telling. His stories, laughter, and wisdom will remain treasured memories for all who knew and loved him.

Scott is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pam Hoefling of Sioux City; his children, Cassie (Ross) Johnson, Kade (Lexi) Hoefling, Katelyn Hoefling, and Kimberly Hoefling; his siblings, Gail (John) Eliades, Kevin Hoefling, Kirk Hoefling, Kenny (Bridget) Hoefling, Cathy (Rick) Wegher, Duane "Bucko" Hoefling, and Kyle (Sarah) Hoefling; and too many nieces and nephews to count, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vince and Madonna Hoefling.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm with a Vigil Service at 7 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Country Celebrations. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Friday, June 26, 2026, at St. Joseph Ellendale Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Ellendale Cemetery. Following services at the cemetery, a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at Country Celebrations. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
