Sandra L. Hanlon, 69 of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Restoration Church, formerly Morningside Assembly of God. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the church.
Sandy was born the daughter of Ralph and Audrey (Campbell) Tompkins on October 13, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated with the last class of Leeds High School in 1972. Sandy married Thomas “Mike” Hanlon on May 26, 2006.
She worked for many years as the district representative for Congressmen Steve King. Prior to that, she worked at Wagner Johnson and Rasmuss Orthodontics for 10 years.
Sandy was a longtime member of Restoration Church where she was an active board member, adult Sunday school teacher, and small group leader. She also did Bus Ministry and Children’s Ministry in her home.
Sandy enjoyed talking politics and Rock n Roll music. She was a vital part of establishing the Iowa Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Her and Mike liked to antique, play cards, dance, and spend time at Okoboji.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Thomas “Mike” Hanlon of Sioux City; stepson, Nathan Hanlon of Sioux City; siblings, Gary (Dani) Tompkins and Terri (Ron) Beller all of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Delphene Tompkins; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Richard and Dawna.
