Samuel K. "Sam" Doty, 32, formerly of Sioux City, passed away peacefully at his home in Marshall, Minnesota, on Sunday, May 31, 2026. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his vibrant spirit and gentle nature continue to inspire those who had the privilege to walk alongside him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, located at 6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106. This gathering promises a heartfelt remembrance of a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Sam was born on October 6, 1993, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Richard and Erin (Walsh) Doty. He was a man whose warmth and kindness touched many. He worked in the service industry, where his genuine ability to connect with people shone distinctly.
Beyond his career, Sam's passions painted a vivid picture of his joyful soul. He was deeply invested in fitness, understanding the beauty of strength and perseverance both physically and mentally. Music was a sanctuary for him; he loved playing the guitar and was blessed with a great singing voice that could fill a room with emotion. Reading opened doors to endless worlds for Sam, a constant source of knowledge and comfort. His unique sense of style reflected his individuality—confident, thoughtful, and entirely his own.
Most importantly, Sam was the best son and dad. His devotion to his children, Henry and Beatrice, was unconditional and unshakable. Henry was not just his son but also his wingman, a testament to their close and loving relationship.
Survivors include his father, Richard Doty of St. Petersburg, Florida, and his mother, Erin Doty of Sioux City, paternal grandmother, Susan Doty, and maternal grandmother, Joan Walsh, his beloved children Henry and Beatrice, Sam’s sister, Julianne, along with her husband Jesse Scheelhaase and their children—Jaxon, Josephine, and Jaeger; his special friend, Tania Martinez, was a treasured companion, sharing in the joys and challenges of life with understanding and care and Sam’s extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Doty; maternal grandfather, Samuel Walsh; uncle, Craig Doty; and his beloved dog, Luke, who was a loyal companion through many chapters of his life.
Samuel "Sam" Doty’s life is a testament to the power of kindness, passion, and unwavering love. Though his journey has ended, the melodies of his guitar, the strength of his spirit, and the warmth of his smile continue to resonate, a lasting legacy in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
