Sally Ann Tharp, 83, of Sioux City, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly from complications of a heart attack on Tuesday, September 3,2024, at a local hospital.
Per her request, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life service is planned for a later date.
Born on October 22, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Beryl and Marie (Mitchell) Reid, Sally was a bright light in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She graduated from Burlington High School. Sally married Keith Tharp on January 31, 1960, in Blandinsville, IL. To this union, four children were born. Keith preceded Sally in death on November 23, 2020.
Throughout her life, Sally was deeply passionate about many things. She found joy in dancing, sewing, and quilting, watching old game show, and playing games on her iPad. Sally took immense pride in being a mother, grand mother and great grandmother. She deeply loved her family and always reminded them with her favorite saying, "I love you more".
Sally was also a member of the Siouxland Center for Active Generations where she enjoyed listening to the oldies and dancing with friends.
Sally leaves behind her beloved children: Steven (Lynn) Tharp of Ogden, UT, Barbara Tharp of Salt Lake City, UT, Craig (Janelle) Tharp of Kingsley, IA, and Pamela (Farrukh) Khan of Salt Lake City UT. She will also be missed dearly by her three grandchildren, Megan Tharp (Josh Berg), Alexander Khan and Rebecca (Colin) Copple, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Rachel, William, Emberly, Avery, and August. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Betty Hammitt of Omaha, NE, and her brother, Robert (Darlene) Reid of Burlington, IA.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Beryl and Marie Reid, her devoted husband, Keith Tharp, and her cherished grandson, Benjamin Khan. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who love her.
In all things, Sally Ann Tharp reminded us to embrace life with enthusiasm, to cherish family, and to find joy in every moment. Her legacy of love and strength will forever be remembered, a testament to a life well-lived.
