Sally J. Prince, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15th, 2026, in Sioux City, IA.

Sally was born on September 16th, 1935 to Harold and Imogene Stuehmer in Mankato, Minnesota.

Sally attended school in Bozeman, Montana. She began her college career at Montana State, followed by Drake University when her family moved to Des Moines, IA. From there, she attended Morningside College, where she graduated with a degree in physical education.

On November 13th, 1959 Sally married Dean C. Prince. Together, they had three beautiful children, Lori, Tracy, and Dean Jr.

After having stayed home with her children until they attended school, Sally began working at Unity Point Health St. Luke’s where she was a unit secretary on the Labor & Delivery Unit.

Sally had a love for animals. She always made sure the neighborhood squirrels were well fed at the tree in her front yard. She enjoyed doing cross stitching, where she would sit in her kitchen and do for hours. She loved staying active, and always believed that taking care of your body would always pay off in the end.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Tracy Prince; her grandchildren, Anthony Jr. (Tony) Valladolid, Nicole Valladolid, Tyler Valladolid, Sidney Valladolid, Lindsey Noonan, Kelsey Bennett; great-grandchildren, Talan, Jakobi, Kenidi, Kingston, Kruse, Kinley, Roman, Mateo, Vivian, Olivia, Corey, Kemri, Kellen, Kamryn; great-great grandchild, Remi; brother Charles (Chad) Stuehmer; and son-in-law, Dave Layhee.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Imogene Stuehmer; her daughter, Lori L. Layhee; her son, Dean R. Prince; and sister-in-law, Charlene K. Stuehmer.

A private family service will be held to honor Sally’s life.
