Ruth A. Bruno, 94 of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on May 8, 2024. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Father Mark Berens officiating. Entombment at Calvary Cemetery will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28th. Visitation will be on Friday, May 24th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ruth was born on July 19, 1929, in South Sioux City, Nebraska to Percy and Jessie (Mitchell) Miller. She was raised in South Sioux City with her sisters Mary Miller Palmer and Margaret Miller Palmer. Her father passed away at the age of 35 when Ruth was only 5 years old. Ruth met Fred L. Bruno at Johnson Biscuit Company, and they married in June of 1952. Her son Phillip Allen Bruno was born on June 17, 1953.
Ruth worked for Windcharger and Zenith in Sioux City, Iowa. She was an amazing cook and baker. This Irish lady would make wonderful Italian food. Ruth loved working in her yard, doing craft work, and did a good job sewing. She kept a wonderful home. Ruth loved spending time with her, and Fred’s family. She was a devout catholic and took her religion seriously. She attended her local church, St. Joseph Catholic. Ruth loved children, dogs, and all animals.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leo (who passed at the age of 3 months old), sister Margaret Palmer in 2006, husband Fred in 2011, grand-dog Cubs in 2013, son Phillip in 2016, and sister Mary (Gus) Palmer in 2020.
Ruth is survived by her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving friends.
Ruth never seemed to know a stranger and will be greatly missed.
