Russell K. Warnock, 83, of South Sioux City, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 17, 2020 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Maskell Cemetery.
Russ was born to Tom and Marian (Cook) Warnock on November 30, 1936 in Newcastle, Nebraska. He graduated from Maskell High School in 1954. Russell married Judy Schwarz on June 24, 1962 in Emerson, Nebraska. Russ and Judy enjoyed 58 blessed years together.
Russ delivered produce for Apar Brokerage for several years. He then worked 25 years as a letter carrier in South Sioux City for the US Postal Service. In his retirement he worked in the mailroom for Unity Point.
Russ was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and a dedicated fan of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture. He could always be found in the garage or basement working on some kind of project. Russell was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City.
Russ is survived by his wife, Judy of South Sioux City; children, Sheila (Dennis) Jensen of Dakota Dunes, Mark (Lynnette) Warnock of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Craig (Tracey) Warnock of Stevensville, Michigan; sister, Sue Herfel of Ponca, Nebraska; grandchildren, Meleshia (Mike) Schnee, Luke (Carin) Jensen, Karissa Jensen, Trent Jensen, Kaili Warnock, Taylor Warnock, Reagan Warnock, and Linden Warnock; great-granddaughter, Lily; and sister-in-law, Ruth Gilaspie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Don, Paul, and Gary.
