Rosemary U. Wiederin, 86, of Sgt. Bluff passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Pioneer Valley Living and Rehab in Sgt. Bluff. She was born on February 14, 1939, in Carroll, Iowa, to John Sebastian and Hulda (Winker) Bernholtz. Rosemary grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1957.
On May 2, 1964, Rosemary was united in marriage to John Wiederin in Carroll, and this union was blessed with four children. In 1981, the family moved to Sgt. Bluff. She worked at Kmart while residing in Carroll and then as a cook at the Sergeant Bluff - Luton School for several years.
Rosemary will be remembered as a welcoming person who represented the essence of home. Her strong faith and devotion to her family were the cornerstones of her life. She had a very close relationship with her siblings and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. A devoted Catholic, she prayed the Rosary daily and was a member of Nativity Catholic Church.
She had many hobbies and interests that enriched her life, including painting ceramics, reading romance novels, and bowling. Rosemary traveled extensively, enjoying many trips through the Heritage Club at her bank. Her family will fondly recall her delicious Sunday Cinnamon Rolls, while her grandchildren will remember her for her chocolate chip and monster cookies.
Rosemary is survived by her four children: Kevin (Michon) Wiederin of Sgt. Bluff, Donald (Cyndy) Wiederin of Sgt. Bluff, Jennifer (Glen) Coble of Onawa, IA, and Jason Wiederin of Ralston, NE; 12 grandchildren: Aaron Wiederin, Sara Wiederin, Katie (Sam) Minarik, Seth Wiederin, Allison Wiederin, Jacob Wiederin, Kayleigh (Taylor) Best, Megan (Forrest) Gassman, Bryce Coble, Brandon Coble, Jonathan Wiederin, and Andrew Wiederin; and 3 great-grandchildren: Braxton Best, Carter Best, and Nathan Coble. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Mary Bernholtz, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her grandson, Tyler Coble; and three brothers: Lyle (Elva) Bernholtz, Merle (Loretta) Bernholtz, and Dale Bernholtz.
The visitation for Rosemary will take place on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Mater Dei Parish - Nativity Catholic Church in Sioux City. A Mass will follow beginning at 10:30 AM.
