Rose “Rosie” Marie Zastrow, 67, of South Sioux City, a cherished wife and devoted friend, passed away on January 6, 2025, at an Omaha hospital. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family, friends, and her community.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 P.M., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., also at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in South Sioux City.

Rose was born on May 21, 1957, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Otto and Veronica (Crowe) Linquist. She attended South Sioux City schools and dedicated much of her career to Atokad, ServiceMaster, and more than twenty years with the Humane Society. Her work reflected her lifelong passion for helping animals and those in need. Rose’s kindness and dedication left a lasting impact on her community, as she poured her heart into every task she undertook.

On July 24, 1999, Rose married the love of her life, Hank Zastrow, in South Sioux City. Their marriage brought her the large and loving family she had always dreamed of, becoming the cornerstone of her life. Rose also adored her beloved dogs, Izzy and Toby, who brought her joy and companionship. Beyond her love for animals, she found great enjoyment in horse racing and treasured the relationships she built with her extended family and many friends.

Rose is survived by her husband, Hank Zastrow; her beloved dogs, Izzy and Toby; and her special extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Veronica Linquist, and her brother-in-law and maid of honor, Tom Zastrow.

Rose will forever be remembered for her boundless love, her warm smile, and her generous spirit. She had a way of making everyone around her feel special, and her joy in life was contagious. Her family and friends will carry her memory in their hearts, cherishing the countless moments of laughter, kindness, and love she shared. Rosie’s legacy is one of compassion and connection, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
