Ronald V. Jordan

March 18, 1945 — October 5, 2020

Ronald V. Jordan, 75, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at a local hospital. Visitation and service will both be held on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Riverside Lutheran Church. Visitation with the family will begin at 11 a.m. with the service starting at Noon.

Ron was born on March 18, 1945, in Norfolk, Neb. He lived with his parents, Vernon and Lavern (Hadley) Jordan and sister, Linda (Jordan) McCrory, on the family farm outside of Hartington, Neb. until 1955 when they moved to Sioux City. His parents owned and operated RC Cabins on Military Road in Riverside, an area Ron would call home for the rest of his life. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1964 and loved to reunite with his fellow Cavaliers over the years. He got a job as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in 1965 and remained employed there until he officially retired in 2000.

On December 7, 1968, he married his wife Glenda (Robinson) and they raised three kids together before she passed away in 1999. His son Scott lives in Sioux City with his wife Mary and their two girls, Madeline and Elizabeth. His daughter Sara lives in Sioux City with her husband Kelly Weltz and their daughters Jordan and Paige, along with Jordan’s partner Wade Knutson. His third child Erin also lives in Sioux City with her husband Aaron Sandage and their daughters Piper and Harper.

Ron loved many things. He loved Iowa Hawkeye football and was never happier than when his Hawkeyes beat Nebraska or Iowa State. (He remained tight-lipped about actually being born in Nebraska.) He loved playing golf with his buddies and was a member of Sun Valley Golf Course. He loved playing cribbage and having beers with friends at the Skyline Bar. But most of all he loved his family and friends and they loved him.

Ron was quick with a story and loved to laugh. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Without a doubt, he is now reunited with his wife and parents in heaven.
