Ron Van Voorst "Tulip", 68, of South Sioux City, NE passed away at his home on Sunday, July 31, 2016 while surrounded by his family.Celebration of His Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Tri State Christian Church in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at a later date.Ron was born in LeMars, IA on February 24, 1948, the son of Gerrit and Arlene (Morehead) Van Voorst. He grew up in LeMars. He worked as a trailer repair mechanic for Tyson for 37 years, retiring in March, 2014.He was a member of Tri State Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Turkey Federation. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was proud to watch his oldest grandchild graduate from high school recently. He also enjoyed hunting turkey and deer, fishing, gardening, tractor pulls, scratch tickets, orange Dodges, Snap On Tools, old cars, going to auctions, collecting pens, watching wrestling, building and woodworking, and a good cup of coffee. He was always very punctual.Survivors include his wife, Judy Van Voorst of South Sioux City, NE; his daughters and grandchildren, Corrine (Aaron) Heaton and their children, MaKayla, Ben and Carson of Sioux City, IA, and Callie (Tony) Port and their children, Lilliahna and Konrad of Burbank, SD; and his added family, daughter, Becky (Jay) Mathis, their children and grand-children, Jared and Tia Langel, Addy and Treyton, Michael and Aliee Langel, Braeleigh and Kinsley Langel and Brennen and Brady Mathis; son, James (Brenda) Goodier and their children, James, Jessica and Brendan Goodier and Paisleigh and Morgan Linton; son, Jon (Betty) Goodier and their children, Alexandra, Tyler and Daniel Rhys Goodier; son, Eric (Patti) Goodier and their children, Jacob, Brianna and Ethan Goodier, Rebecca and Kathryn Meister; and son, Daniel Goodier and his children, Jaden Haman, Dominik, Zoe and Lincoln Goodier.Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Christina Van Voorst "Bird"; and his parents, Gerrit and Arlene Van Voorst.
