Romeo Jonathan Díaz entered this world on November 15th, 2021, at 4:44 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa.
He was tragically taken from us on November 19th, 2025, as the result of a drunk driver that occurred on the night of November 16th, 2025.
Romeo, our cherished little angel, was a gentle, shy, and loving child always smiling, always laughing. He brought light, joy, and warmth to every person he encountered. Among his favorite things were dinosaurs, superheroes, and pupusas. He greatly enjoyed spending time at his babysitter Teresita Placencia’s home with his daycare friends, visiting Tía Carla y Tío Luis’s house and being in the homes of his beloved abuelas, Lourdes y Rosalinda.
At home with his mama y papa, Romeo delighted in playing, using his imagination, and cuddling on the couch while watching his favorite shows. He had a deep love for animals, especially his own dogs: Deedee, Benito y Karma. Romeo also treasured his time with his closest little friends, Eden Marquez y Santiago Díaz.
Romeo, si el amor pudiera haberte salvado, todavía estarías aquí.
Tus padres te amarán y te extrañarán por toda la eternidad, nuestro chiquito bebé.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our friends, our family, and the dedicated staff of the PICU at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha for their compassion, support, and care during this profoundly difficult time.
Romeo is preceded in death by:
Manuel Peña, Eullalia Casillas López, Emilia Bustamante, Victorico Bustamante, Estanislao Díaz, and Regina Díaz.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Diaz, Hector Diaz Jr., Hector Diaz, Celso Pena, Christopher Pena, and Jesus Pena. Honorary Pallbearers will be Luis Marquez and Jesus Angulo.
