Rodney Leland Heath, 57, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date not yet determined.
Rodney was born on June 28th, 1968, to Bonnie Mortenson Heath, in Onawa, Iowa. He attended school in Whiting, Iowa, before moving to Sioux City in his early teens, where he attained his GED. Rodney was married to Melanie Turner in July of 1991 in Sioux City. One child, Alecia, was born from that union.
Anyone who knew Rodney had to face his unconventional sense of humor. He was diagnosed with Diabetes in his early 30s and was never able to get it under control. He lost his first leg in 2022, and you could be sure he would have a one-legged joke to tell you. He was very positive and always ready with a joke or comment that would make you pause and then laugh.
Rodney loved to collect antiques, Matchbox cars, and GI Joes. He loved to travel. He had a passion for motorcycles, and you would often see him on his Harley riding alongside his younger brother, Roger, whom he also considered his best friend. He loved his family and loved spending time with them, particularly his grandson, Sean, with whom he had a special bond. Rodney loved to take him out to eat and try to spoil him with special gifts. At home, you would find Rodney listening to his favorite artists such as AC/DC, Jethro Tull, and anything country, and often playing his guitar, or watching YouTube. Rodney also liked to draw. He had many talents. The last few months he was looking forward to his first great-grandson, Kaizen Leland, who should arrive in February.
Rodney was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Rose and Arthur Trowbridge, mother Bonnie Heath, brother Terry Stebbins, sister Rebecca Taylor, cousin Marty Ingram (who was also a good friend).
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter Alecia Turner of South Sioux City, Nebraska; grandson Sean Turner of South Sioux City, Nebraska; brothers Roger (Amber) Heath of Sioux City, Iowa and Steve (Eileen) Stebbins of Nacogdoches, Texas; sisters Brenda Zieglar of Ottumwa, Iowa, Patty Cotter of Sioux City, Iowa, and Sherry (Mike) Yankey of Sloan, Iowa; one aunt, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
