Rodney J. Dean, 72, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Riverview Cemetery 1401 Randolph Street Richmond, VA 23220.
Rodney was born on January 19, 1954, in Washington, D.C., the son of Robert and Jewel (Cobb) Dean. He attended Virgina Union University earning his B.S. and graduating in 1976; he also attended the University of Virginia earning his M.D., graduating in 1981. In 1986, Rodney served his country in United States Army where he worked as a Flight Surgeon. He was Honorably Discharged 1991, as a Major.
Rodney met and married Linda Thomas on December 29, 1976. To this union two children, Pamela and Christopher were born. Linda preceded Rodney in death in February of 2006. Rodney met and married Maria Lambertsen on June 20, 2009. Maria brought to this union Christopher, Alexander and Mia.
Rodney moved to Sioux City and established Dean and Associates in 1995, which continues to service the community to the present day. He was a member of several professional organizations including but not limited to Woodbury County Medical Society and Iowa Physicians Association.
Rodney loved spending time with his family and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife Maria Dean, his children Pamela (Trevor) and Christopher; grandchildren: Aja, Julius, Jayana, Zyra, Raylan, Tobias; bonus children: Christopher, Alexander, Mia (fiancé Dr. Gebers); and granddaughter Scarlet.
Rodney was preceded in death by his mother Jewel, his father Robert, and siblings: Robert, Rowena, and Rhonda.
