Roberta J. Minter, 70 of Jefferson, SD passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Elk Point Cemetery.
Roberta was born the daughter of Robert and Lula (Keifer) Watkins on September 30, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. Roberta married Larry Minter on July 17, 1971. They lived abroad in Germany during Larry’s military service. Upon his honorable discharge, they made their home in Jefferson. Roberta worked several jobs over the years and especially enjoyed her time at Valley Bank and the Jefferson School Business Office.
She was known for her artistic talents. She was a gifted oil painter and quilter. She made quilts for each of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time at their summer place in Platte, SD and the yearly family camping trip to Minnesota where she came to enjoy walleye fishing. She held her Papillion dogs, Scout and Abe close to her heart and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Roberta is survived by her husband, Larry Minter of Jefferson, SD; children, Shara Becker of Sioux City, IA, Laura Smidt of Sioux Falls, SD, and Marcus (Amanda) Minter of Little Rock, IA; siblings, Joetta (Duane) Austin, Richard (Jackie) Watkins, and Thomas Watkins; grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Chase, Morgan, Evan, Wyatt, and Emily; and great-granddaughter, River.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
